Around Caboolture
Old slabs, new floors
Caboolture has a lot of established homes alongside its newer estates, and on older properties the garage floor has usually had a hard life. It's common to find a slab that was painted at some stage, with the paint now peeling, plus oil and rust marks where cars and tools have sat for years.
That's no problem for a flake floor, provided the preparation is done properly. Old paint and coatings are ground off, the slab is taken back to sound concrete, and cracks and chips are filled before anything new goes down. Skipping that step is the usual reason a garage coating lifts.
Further out from the town centre there are bigger blocks with sheds and workshops too, and those floors get the same treatment over a larger area.

Back to bare concrete
On an older Caboolture floor, these decide how much preparation goes in before the flake does.
-
Old paint and coatings
Anything already on the slab is ground off. A new floor can't be any more stuck down than the layer under it.
-
Oil and rust marks
Surface stains come off in the grind. Heavily soaked patches get a closer look, because deep oil can affect the bond.
-
Cracks and chips
Filled and ground flush so they don't show through the finished floor.
-
Your flake blend
Mid greys hide dust and tyre marks best; lighter blends brighten a dim garage or shed.
Step by step, start to finish: how epoxy flake flooring works.
Can you put epoxy flake over a painted garage floor in Caboolture?
Not over the paint itself. Old paint is ground off first so the new system bonds to the concrete, not to a coating that can let go. Once it's back to bare, sound concrete, the flake floor goes down as normal.
Will old oil stains show through a new flake floor?
Not usually, once they've been dealt with. Surface oil comes off with the grind, and the base coat and flake cover the slab completely. Very deep oil contamination can affect how the coating bonds, so we check heavily stained areas first.
Does my shed have to be emptied for a flake floor?
Yes, the floor has to be completely clear: the grinding, coating and curing all need the whole slab. It's worth planning where the contents will go while the floor cures, and we'll give you the timing so you can sort that out ahead of the job.
Do you lay epoxy floors in Caboolture?
Yes. Caboolture is a short drive north of our Burpengary base and well inside the area we cover. Call 0438 708 830 or send a photo of the floor through the form.
Strip it back, flake it
Send a photo of the floor as it is now, peeling paint and all, and roughly how big it is. We'll take it from there.
